Aussie skipper Pat Cummins missed the third test in India after he flew back to Australia for personal reasons. Former test captain and Cummins’s deputy Steve Smith took over the captaincy during the third test and did a commendable job as he helped Australia win the test in Indore after Australia lost the first two test matches.
Pat Cummins Out Of Fourth Test, Smith To Lead Again
The fourth test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is set to take place from March 9 to 13 in Ahmedabad. Cummins was initially set to miss the third test but expected to fly back in time for the fourth test.
Pat Cummins has decided to skip the fourth test as their family deals with a tough situation. Cummins’s mother has been placed in palliative care and the decision was made for Cummins to stay back and be with his family.
Steve Smith will once again captain the side in Ahmedabad and will be keen on winning to even the series and make it 2-2. Smith who was stripped of the captaincy after the ball tampering incident in South Africa has said he is happy to lead the team but made it clear this was Pat Cummins’s team saying his team as captain was done!
