The second Ashes test between England and Australia turned out to be another close encounter with Australia once again managing to get the better of England and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the 5 match Ashes series.
The second test was marred with controversy due to a stumping of Jonny Bairstow in the second innings that had a big impact on the outcome of the game. Bairstow left his crease thinking that the ball was dead but was then stumped by wicketkeeper Alex Carey and was given out.
Bad Blood Will Raise Intensity At Headingley
The media has continued to cover the controversial stumping with England coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes saying that it was against the spirit of the game while Australian media have pointed to past incidents where McCullum has engaged in the same behaviour during his playing days.
The third test which will take place at Headingley from 6 to 10 July is unlikely to be played in the same friendly spirit as the first two tests. Expect bad blood at Headingley and a new level of intensity which will add to the excitement of cricket fans!
