Hockey Canada went through a massive shakeup during the last 12 months as their entire board of directors and CEO/President resigned. Those resignations came about after Hockey Canada was accused of covering up a sexual misconduct scandal and having a toxic culture for years.
As a result, Hockey Canada ended up losing a number of their key sponsors and also lost trust with the general public. The new board of directors were focused on getting a new CEO to bring about strategic change to the governing body of hockey in Canada.
Katherine Henderson Takes On CEO Role
Hockey Canada have confirmed that Katherine Henderson will now lead the organization in her role as CEO. Henderson has decided to step down from her post as Canada Curling CEO to take up the new challenge and will start from September 4.
Henderson will be based in Toronto and look to put together a strategic plan that will stamp out toxic culture traits, foster inclusion and look to promote the game. She has been a big supporter of inclusion in sport and said she was looking forward to her new role with Hockey Canada.
