Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler were coaches on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) but did not end up fighting each other as per the usual format of the TUF Reality Show. This was because McGregor hasn’t been in the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool.
McGregor needs to be in the USADA pool for a minimum of 6 months before he gets clearance to fight in the Octagon. MMA fans were keen on seeing McGregor vs. Chandler before the end of 2023 but given the fact that McGregor has now indicated that he does not want to fight Chandler, it is unlikely that we will see McGregor vs. Chandler anytime soon!
MMA Fans Continue To Lose Respect For McGregor
McGregor took to Twitter after Justin Gaethje KO’d Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 on 29 July to call Gaethje out and said in no uncertain terms that he is not interested in fighting Chandler anymore.
MMA fans immediately turned on McGregor because he made Chandler sit out and wait for all these months, hoping to fight him. Fans also don’t want to see McGregor get special treatment and get a crack at Gaethje who is next in line for a title shot as McGregor has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights and his last fight was back in July 2021!
