Australian mixed martial arts (MMA) fans are happy as the premier organization in MMA is heading down under. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) plans its pay per view events well in advance and has confirmed that UFC 284 will take place in Perth, Western Australia.
UFC 284 To Take Place On Feb 11
The UFC had earlier discussed the idea of booking an open air stadium due to the massive popularity of MMA in Australia. However, the UFC is going with a closed arena for this pay per view card as the RAC Arena is booked for UFC 284.
The last time the UFC visited Perth was in 2018 when Aussie heavyweight Mark Hunt headlined event and lost to Curtis Blaydes. The UFC returned to Melbourne in 2019 when Kiwi based middleweight champ Israel Adesanya KO’d Aussie based Robert Whittaker.
The UFC is returning to Australia after three years and the RAC Arena is expected to be packed to capacity. The UFC is yet to announce any fights for this card but one can expect a strong line-up of Aussie and Kiwi fighters.
UFC featherweight champ Alex Volkanovski will defend his belt on this card, while former middleweight champ Robert Whittaker has already confirmed that he wants to fight in Perth.
