The 2023 Rugby World Cup is set to conclude over the weekend as the final two games in the tournament will take place. England will face Argentina to determine who will take the third place in the tournament as the two sides clash on Oct 27.
Defending champions South Africa will take on New Zealand on Oct 28 to see who will be the 2023 Rugby World Cup champions. The 2023 Rugby World Cup has been a great success but sadly has been marred by an incident of racism which is alleged to have occurred in the second semi-final which England faced South Africa.
World Rugby Launches Investigation
Springboks hooker Bongi Mbonambi was accused by England’s flanker Tom Curry of racially abusing. Curry complained to referee Ben O’Keeffe claiming that Mbonambi called him a white c***.
Rugby Football Union which is the governing body for rugby in England has raised an official complaint with World Rugby who released a statement and confirmed that they will open an investigation into the incident as it takes every allegation of discriminatory very seriously.
England and South Africa will look to put this incident aside and not let it impact them as they have crucial games to play and win over the weekend.
