Pakistan and Sri Lanka are set to host the 2023 Asia Cup from 31 Aug to 17 Sep. Asian cricket fans will tune in to see Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Afghanistan and Bangladesh battle it out to be the 2023 Asian Cup Champions.
While most teams have already released their squad for the Asia Cup, India have decided to delay the squad announcement. The BCCI Selection Committee is expected to finalize the squad by Aug 20.
Selection Committee Waiting On Player Fitness Report
The BCCI Selection Committee are currently waiting for two key middle-order players to take a fitness test on Aug 18. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are recovering from injuries and need to clear a fitness test before they are eligible for selection.
If they pass their fitness test, they should be named in the 18 member squad for the 2023 Asia Cup. The selectors will keep a close watch on this squad and then trim it down to 15 players who will be part of the 2023 World Cup ODI team.
Rohit Sharma is set to captain the side at the 2023 Asia Cup and will welcome the return of his top fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah who is returning after a long injury layoff.
