Eden Hazard who captained Belgium and is one of the top football players in the world, surprised the global football community on 10 Oct when he announced that he decided to retire from the sport.
The news comes as a surprise as Hazard is just 32 years old and many footballers continue their career with smaller leagues into their late 30s. Hazard who has played for top football clubs in the world including Chelsea and Real Madrid has had a phenomenal career over the years with the highlight being part of Belgium’s World Cup squad in 2018 that lost in the semi-finals to France.
Hazard Believes Right Time To Step Away
Hazard told his fans that after spending 16 years playing football and playing in over 700 games around the world, he believed that it was the right time for him to retire and walk away from the game that gave him so much! He thanked his coaches, managers and teammates who helped him enjoy great times over the years.
Hazard last played for Real Madrid and did not have a great run with the Spanish side which he joined back in 2019.
