Conor McGregor who continues to remain the premier star in all of mixed martial arts (MMA) has informed his fans that he plans to make his return to the UFC Octagon at welterweight.
McGregor Plans Return At Welterweight
McGregor has fought mostly at featherweight and lightweight in the UFC and held championship belts in both divisions. He has also fought at welterweight in the past against Nate Diaz and Cowboy Cerrone but dropped down to his natural weight class which was the lightweight division.
The Irish superstar has been out of action since suffering a broken leg in his lightweight fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. McGregor has since put on a lot of muscle and looks very big for the lightweight division.
It now looks like Conor McGregor will move up a weightclass on his return and look to capture a third division belt. McGregor did not confirm when he plans to return but it looks like it could be in the first quarter of 2023.
McGregor hasn’t indicated who he would like to fight at welterweight but given his ability to sell pay per view cards, it could be for a potential tight fight at welterweight or a welterweight title contender fight.
