The first T20 World Cup semi-final will take place on Nov 9 when New Zealand takes on Pakistan. India and England will clash in the second semi-final on Nov 10 at the Adelaide Oval.
Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant?
India have played most of their T20 World Cup games with the same playing XI but decided to drop wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik during their last game against Zimbabwe which they won easily. The selectors decided to give Rishab Pant an opportunity but Pant did not make runs.
With both Karthik and Pant not making runs, the selectors have an important decision to make for the game against England. Do they give Pant another opportunity in a crucial semi-final game or bring back Karthik since he has spent more time in the middle than Pant.
Karthik was selected in the T20 World Cup squad as he has proven himself as a great finisher but his form has waned in the World Cup. Pant is an exciting talent but has played just one game in the World Cup so far!
Former head coach Ravi Shastri believes that Pant should get the nod ahead of Karthik as he is a left-hander and will be a better foil to the England bowling attack! This is a crucial decision for the selectors as it will have a big impact on the match result!
