Reclaiming the Brilliance of Scoring 21 Goals: Jota Holds the Key to Liverpool’s Comeback, “If I Can Leave Behind a Number Greater Than 21 Goals”
Liverpool finished the Premier League season in 5th place, struggling to find their form from the beginning.
One player who has garnered attention is forward Diogo Jota, who is expected to make a comeback next season.
Jota recorded 21 goals across all competitions in the 2021-22 season, showcasing his ability to score consistently.
However, this season he was limited to only 7 league goals due to injuries. It is also hoped that Darwin Núñez will awaken in the forward line, as Jota and Núñez together could ideally contribute around 40 goals next season.
According to FourFourTwo, Jota is determined to surpass his achievements from the 2021-22 season in the upcoming season.
“I’m aiming to leave behind a number greater than 21 goals. The season two years ago went really well, and it was a fantastic personal experience as well. I know that the club has faith in me, and that’s important. This summer, I want to have a solid preseason and have a great season.”
This season, the team has scored 75 goals in the league. If Jota, Núñez, Mohamed Salah, and Luis Díaz also explode in front of goal, reaching 100 goals is not an impossible task. Reinforcing the defense, which conceded 47 goals, is crucial, but there is also hope for Liverpool’s overwhelming attacking play.
