David Warner is part of the Australian team that will play a 3 match test series against Pakistan at home. The first test will take place in Perth from Dec 14 to 18 and will be the last summer of test cricket for Warner who will retire from test cricket.
Warner has received a lot of criticism in the press as many including his former teammate Mitchell Johnson does not believe that Warner should have had the privilege of deciding when he retires and being a part of the test team against Pakistan. The criticism was directed at Warner as he hasn’t performed well in test cricket for the last 3 years.
The spat between Warner and Johnson received a lot of media attention and ex-head coach Justin Langer expressed his disappointment. Langer said there is an unwritten rule in Australian cricket that when you represent Australia, you realize that you must sort out your differences in private and cannot criticise teammates in public.
Johnson was dropped from his commentating gig for attacking Warner in the media. Langer said he hoped Johnson and Warner could quickly put an end to this ugly media spat.
