The NBA announced on Aug 22 that it had decided to impose a fine against James Harden who plays for the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden was in China earlier this month, when he said on two occasions (Aug 14 and 17) that he wasn’t going to honor his contract with the 76ers unless he was traded.
Harden Must Pay $100,000 Fine
An investigation was carried out by the NBA to see if Harden made those remarks as a threat because he wasn’t certain about the 76ers trading him. Once the NBA confirmed the same, they decided to impose a $100,000 fine on the 2018 MVP.
Harden invoked his $35.6 million player option during the off-season as he wanted to be traded. He had a falling out with the 76ers and claims their relationship cannot be repaired and hence wants out. He has also said he will not work with any organization that employs Daryl Morey who is the current GM of the 76ers as he is a liar!
The NBA Player Association (NBPA) was not happy with the NBA’s decision to hit James Harden with a $100,000 fine and says it will file a grievance report!
