Gretzky’s Stick To Fetch Upwards Of $500K
The game-used stick comes from the Edmonton Oiler’s game against the Boston Bruins at the 1988 Stanley Cup final. This Stanley Cup win was the fourth Stanley Cup trophy for Gretzky and it also helped him to clinch his second Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.
The auction opened on July 18 and will run till July 25 and is estimated to bring in upwards of $500,000. This estimate was based on a number of factors which Sotheby’s has highlighted.
The stick is also dated and signed by Gretzky! Sotheby’s said that they got the stick from a private collector who decided to put it up for sale! A little over a year ago, Gretzky’s jersey and gloves from the 1988 Stanley Cup was put on sale and the jersey brought in $1.5 million while the gloves ended up being sold for $200,000.
