Warriors Star to Stay with the Team Through 2026-27 Season
Golden State Warriors’ star Stephen Curry has committed to an additional year with the franchise, agreeing to a $62.6 million contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2026-27 season. The extension, confirmed by Curry’s agent Jeff Austin, was reported on August 29.
At 36 years old, Curry remains a pivotal player for the Warriors. The extension comes as he enters the final stretch of his current four-year, $215.4 million deal, which he signed in August 2021. Due to the “over-38 rule” in the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement, Curry was only eligible for a one-year extension, as he will turn 38 in March 2026.
With a career boasting 10 All-Star appearances, four NBA championships, and two MVP awards, Curry continues to demonstrate his value on the court. In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds across 74 games. He also holds the NBA’s all-time record for 3-point field goals, with a staggering 3,747 to his name.
Curry’s impact on the Warriors is further evidenced by his standing as the franchise’s career leader in points (23,668), assists (6,119), steals (1,473), and games played (956). His continued presence with the team is sure to be a key factor in Golden State’s pursuit of future championships.
