UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya who lives in New Zealand will head down under to defend his belt against Sean Strickland at UFC 293.
UFC 293 will take place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia and will feature just one title fight. The co-main event will see Sydney heavyweight banger Tai Tuivasa fight in front of a sold out arena as he takes on Alexander Volkov from Russia.
Can Adesanya Finish Sean Strickland?
Adesanya has only lost once at middleweight in the UFC and that was when he lost the belt to Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira. He called for an immediate rematch and got his revenue by KO’d the Poatan and reclaiming his belt.
He will now look to defend his belt against Strickland who was KO’d by the Poatan and goes into this fight full of confidence. Strickland was not the number one contender for the title but since South African Dricus Du Plessis was not ready to fight on the UFC 293 card, the UFC and Adesanya decided to give Strickland a shot at the belt.
The UFC has Jared Cannonier who lost a title fight to Adesanya in the past as the backup fighter for the Main Event.
