The UFC is set to host UFC 289 on June 10 at the Rogers Arena, in British Columbia and Canadian fans are very happy that the premier organization in MMA is once against hosting live fights in Canada.
UFC 289 – To Weak For A PPV Card
The UFC usually sets up two championship fights for a pay per view (PPV) card but UFC 289 will feature just one championship fight. The Main Event will see Amanda Nunes defend her bantamweight belt against Irene Aldana.
When UFC 289 was announced, the Main Event was set to be Nunes vs. former champ Julianna Pena. However that fight fell through after Pena got injured and the UFC decided to keep Nunes as the Main Event and bring in Irene Aldana as a replacement.
The only other big names on this card are in the co-main event when former lightweight champ Charles Oliveira will fight Beneil Dariush. The winner could be next in light for a title shot against Islam Makhachev.
Many MMA fans have taken to social media to say that UFC 289 has a very weak card and is not good enough to be a PPV card!
